Burning Carbs
Why Priority?

Burning Carbs
In our travels, we continue to hear producers being told they need to accept increasing herd health and reproduction challenges as "the way it is." Why should herd health be increasingly challenging when nutrition, cow comfort and management have all made significant improvements?

Dairy cows today are burning carbs at a much higher rate than ever before. The rate (speed) and load of Rapidly Fermentable Carbohydrates needed result in glucose toxicity and lactic acid spilling over into the digestive system and elsewhere, which negatively effect animal health and feed efficiency.

Controlling pH can have a positive effect on every metabolic challenge a dairy animal faces. Metabolic health starts with effectively processing carbohydrates and starch to maintain proper rumen pH. Our industry is evolving from how much milk per cow we can achieve to how we can maintain cow health.

Why can't we achieve both?
