StartUp™ Gel
|
Priority’s StartUp™ Gel with its branded strains is a powerful concentration of dormant beneficial bacteria. When administered, the bacteria are activated (come to life) to aid in keeping animals on feed or bring animals back on feed in times of transition, stress conditions and/or at cattle shows.
Features and Branded Strains
Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Contains branded strains A4000h™ and A2020™ - naturally occurring strains of bacteria that function in the rumen to convert starch and sugars to lactic acid. In the intestinal tract they play a major role in protecting the animal from pathogen invasion by producing compounds called bacteriocins that kill or inhibit pathogens
Also features Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast)
- Live yeast shown to stimulate rumen bacteria and improve dry matter intake, improve fiber digestion and increase milk production
Contains enzymes:
- Amylase which hydrolyzes starch
- Protease which hydrolyzes proteins
- ß-Glucanase which hydrolyzes beta glucans, a type of non-starch polysaccharide found in typical dairy feedstuffs
- Hemicellulase which can break down hemicellulose
Benefits
Research has shown;
Effective in the rumen and intestinal tract
Breaks down glucose to lactic acid which is further broken down to propionic and
acetic acids
Protects against invasion by pathogenic bacteria
- By binding to sites on the intestinal wall and preventing the pathogen from binding
- By producing compounds called bacteriocins that kill or inhibit pathogens
Fed to calves, dairy and beef cows
- At calving
- Prior to shipping
- After antibiotic therapy
- Off feed or during feed changes
Scientific strain selection using “cutting edge” DNA technology
New molecular-based methods are used to identify (select) unique strains of bacteria (found in the rumen and/or intestinal tract) that correlate to specific (digestive) functions in the animal using techniques: RAPD, Multiplex PCR, DGGE, SSH, Real Time PCR, T-RFLP, FISH, Microarray, Multivariate Statistics/Ordination, Bioinformatics
Includes special moisture scavenger agents for moisture control
Micro-encapsulation methods to ensure stability
BQS (Quality) certified
- Genetic fingerprinted
- Purity, count, and genotype tested
- High temperature stability tested
Directions for Use
Calves: Feed five (5) grams per calf at birth through weaning.
Dairy and Beef Cattle: Feed five (5) grams daily until dry matter intake returns to normal levels. Use during off-feed, feed changes, at calving, prior to shipping, and after antibiotic therapy.
Sheep and Goat: Feed five (5) grams at birth through weaning.
For best results: Feed Priority Calf GOLD™ or P-One™ daily following gel administration.
